GOALS​

Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU The NEU) Libraries aim to foster continuous learning and innovation by offering access to advanced technologies, research tools, and diverse resources, alongside delivering innovative services and adaptable facilities to meet the evolving information needs of users. In addition, the following are the library goals:

APromote a culture of continuous learning and innovation by providing access to emerging technologies, research tools, and multidisciplinary resources.

BDeliver innovative and responsive library services and physical facilities to address the evolving information needs of library users.

CFoster collaboration and partnership with stakeholders to promote interdisciplinary research, knowledge, and resource sharing.

OBJECTIVES

The University’s objectives primarily focus on continuously improving the library’s digital setup for advanced learning, providing flexible physical spaces to meet diverse educational and research needs, and building strong collaborations with stakeholders to use collective resources and expertise effectively. Specifically, the library strives to:

AContinuously enhance the library’s digital infrastructure that provides technologically advanced learning resources and an environment that promotes lifelong learning;

BProvide suitable physical spaces that support the varying teaching, learning, and research needs of library users;

CCollaborate and build strong partnerships with stakeholders to leverage resources, expertise, and opportunities.

ORGANIZATIONAL FUNCTION

The Batangas State University Library comprises three major service functions – the Collection Development and Cataloging Services, the Reference & Reader’s Services, and the Computer & Internet Access Services.

Collection Development and Cataloging Services

These services areas are responsible for the collection management of all library resources, from the selection, evaluation, acquisition, organization (classification, cataloging, etc.), mechanical processing, preservation of materials up to deselection/withdrawing of materials.

Reader’s Services

These services areas manage activities and operations related to attending the library user’s reference queries, providing use and access to library materials/facilities/spaces, answering reference queries, and user education.

Specific functions include: lending of library materials; book renewals; course reserves; shelf management; patron notifications (overdue notices and fines); library orientation; current awareness (promotion of library resources); and managing booking reservation of spaces and facilities.

These services comprise different work areas/sections such as: Circulation Section; Periodical Section; Graduate Studies; and Theses Section.

Computer & Internet Access Services (E-Library)

The Library provides computer units to students to use either for computer related tasks and/or access to online resource materials. Students and faculty have free access to global information with the use of computers in the e-Library with stable internet connection.
